The Comic Management System V1 (CMS-V1) is a cloud-based production management hub for Comic Creators and Editors. Built on the powerful Notion all-in-one cloud-based productivity platform, CMS-V1 is a centralized workspace to monitor multiple work data, team performance, and publishing progress using a web browser or a mobile device. The Notion platform is available on the web or as an app via Google Play or Apple App Store.

2. How to Import & Duplicate a Template in Notion

Importing and Duplicating a Notion Template in your personal workspace is straightforward and easy. Please watch the YouTube video below and follow the process discussed. It is a short presentation that is just under 3 minutes.






3. Comic Management System V1 – Overview

  • For Creators:

    • Use the web browser or app-based writing feature built into Notion pages to draft ideas for your comic project, or develop a script for your comic issues. You can assign a Priority Level for every writing task to help you stay on schedule.

    • Upload images of work-in-progress comic art pages to track the creative visual storytelling production of each comic issue.

    • Upload different documents and images for use as Reference Materials or Art Assets.

    • You can also embed web links such as Google Maps, Google Drive files, YouTube videos, Spotify music, etc.

    • Each comic issue section in CMS-V1 has a File Repository where you can store all your collected files. This is useful when working with Contractors/Freelancers/Teams. No need to keep emailing required project files or assets.

    • A Creator’s Journal section is available for use as a blog space. Jot down your creative thoughts, ideas, mood, and experience! Look back on your blog and remember the fun moments of making your comic book series!

    • To-Do Lists and Notes pages are available for daily tasks and memos.

  • For Editors:

    • The Administration section of CMS-V1 features multiple modules to assist Editorial work. In particular, there is an Editorial Calendar module for tracking ongoing comic projects as well as scheduling Contractors/Freelancers and Vendors. The calendar can also be used for events such as upcoming conventions and shows.

    • A Contact List module is available for quick contact references and networking use.

    • Managing comic project logistics can be done using the following modules that serve as information lists:

      • Marketing – For your advertising information and marketing outlets.

      • Publishers – For tracking publishing companies.

      • Printers – For companies that offer printing services.

      • Distributors & Shipping – For companies that offer freight & shipping services.

      • Warehouse – For companies that offer storage services of goods, including published comic books and graphic novels.

    • A Zoom page for team meetings, or if you just want to harangue a Contractor/Freelance who is blowing a deadline!

    • An Editor’s Journal section is available for use as a blog space. Jot down your thoughts, ideas, mood, and experience. Look back on your blog and remember the great moments of each comic book issue.

    • To-Do Lists and Notes pages are available for daily tasks and memos.

  • For Creator & Editors:

    • There is an entire section dedicated to Accounting. This section includes the following useful modules:

      • Project Expenses Budget – For listing project-related and tax-deductible expenses including, but not limited to, office supplies, equipment purchases and rentals, art supplies, digital services, web hosting, and online subscriptions that fall within the needs of your comic book production and logistics.

      • Contractor Budget – For listing monies paid or owed to Contractors/Freelancers.

      • Vendor Budget – For listing monies paid or owed to Vendors (Marketing agencies and services, Publishers, Printers, Distributors & Shipping, and Warehouse companies.

    • A Budget To-Do List for remembering daily tasks.




4. Linking Databases in Comic Management System V1

Savvy Notion users can extend the Comic Management System by linking a database on any page to share and display duplicated data across other pages! This makes tracking and managing tasks and projects consistent and efficient.

5. Summary

The Comic Management System V1 has over 20 databases and numerous subpages within top-level pages for use in comic production work. It is a cloud-based management tool built on the robust Notion platform that can be accessed using a web browser or mobile and tablet devices.

Both free and paid Notion users can utilize the Comic Management System V1 simply by accessing the web link listed at the top of this page and then using the Duplicate feature to copy the entire Template into their workspace. As always with Notion, everything can be customized to your liking and specifics merely by adjusting the parameters of each database or changing the names of individual modules within each page.
